Program Manager

As the programme manager for a new commercial national telecommunications business in Ireland, the objective of this assignment was to ensure timely launch of commercial operations. The role was especially challenging with industry deregulation in Ireland being brought forward 14 months.

This position required a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the business strategy, operations, capabilities, and of the external operating environment. Supplying strategic and operational guidance, the role entailed:

• programme management: project planning, risk management, board reports, etc.
• implement the company’s operational and marketing goals
• process definition and implementation
• process walkthroughs, Operational and Business Readiness Testing (ORT / BRT)
• management of service portfolio launch
• liaison with European suppliers and partners.

Appointed by the executive board of a leading international telecommunications operator, the assignment was to author and manage production of the operators application for a telecommunications license in a new market (Ireland). The successful bid was achieved against very aggressive timescales after the deregulation and bid process was brought forward by 18months by the regulator. This entailed:

• analysis of domestic and European regulation
• senior-level strategy development and negotiation of marketing, commercial and network operations
• project management production of al material for inclusion in the bid
