Strategy development, Facilitation and Authorship

This project involved the planning, coordination and delivery of a new four-year strategic plan for one of Ireland’s largest charitable sports organisations, with 10,000 athletes and over 15,000 volunteers.

The assignment ran over a 6-month period and covered:

• review and analysis of the previous strategic period
• planning and management of two rounds of consultation sessions in 6 locations around Ireland
• analysis and consolidation of key findings
• authoring of the new strategy, incorporating goal-setting, objectives, actions and timelines over a four-year period
• management of strategy completion and sign-off at Board level

Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games, Belfast 2006 (Ireland)

Director of Venues

The All Ireland National Games were held in Belfast in June 2006. Over 2000 athletes, 550 coaches & delegates participated in the Games (which included a round Ireland Torch Relay) and required over 5,000 volunteers.

Undertaking the role of Director of Venues during the Games planning stage and during event time, responsibilities included:

• cross Functional Area operational planning
• venue integration
• identifying and delivery of volunteer requirements
• Games time management.
