World Youth Day (WYD) was the largest youth event in the world in 2008. WYD08 attracted over 220,000 pilgrims from 170 nations and was the largest single-venue event ever hosted in Australia.
Workforce Programme Management (Volunteers and Paid Staff)
Intevo personnel, appointed on a long term basis, were responsible for:
Workforce Management:
- Staffing analysis to determine the roles, number of staff required, accreditation requirements and hire dates for volunteers and event planning and operations (EP&O) staff
- Planning and implementation for recruitment, selection and allocation of a workforce of over 8000 volunteers and paid staff
- Development of Workforce Management IT System for the purposes of registration, recruitment, scheduling and check in of volunteers
- Development of training strategy and overall training coordination (inc. orientation training DVD and Long term Volunteer Program)
- Introduction of the retention and recognition program for event workforce
- Design of volunteer/workforce management spaces on venue and training of the volunteer/workforce management team
- Maintained a budget of 9.3 million dollars overseeing expenditure for volunteers, event workforce and EP&O staff
